Work local. Move forward.

Good work starts with clear boundaries.

Practical steps for workers and employers.

Never pay to apply.

Requests for application fees, gift cards, advance payments, check deposits or money transfers are warning signs. Do not pay to unlock a job.

Agree on the work before you start.

Confirm duties, schedule, pay, required equipment and safe meeting arrangements. Ask about training and workplace risks. A listing or badge does not guarantee that a person or workplace is safe.

Share only what is needed.

Keep passwords, Social Security numbers, bank details and identity documents out of jobs and chat. Check the contents of a resume before sharing it. Contact and resume permissions can be revoked independently from Applications.

Report concerns.

Use a job’s report control or the report and block options in a conversation. Reports are reviewed by people; they do not guarantee a particular outcome. For immediate danger, call 911.

Understand the badges.

Founding Employer means early program participation when granted. Business Pro means plan entitlement. Neither is identity verification. Verified Business must reflect a separate verification process.
